Our Dispute Resolution Team comprises two units: – Litigation Unit and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Unit.
The Litigation Unit:
Our Litigation Practice is at the heart of our dispute management work. We act for individuals, corporations, regulators, and public institutions at every level of the Nigerian judiciary, from trial courts (Federal and State High Courts, National Industrial Court) through specialized tribunals and election panels, up to the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. We handle matters that require forceful courtroom advocacy as well as those that demand careful appellate strategy.
Our work in this unit spans a wide spectrum, including:
Civil and Commercial litigation – enforcing and defending rights in complex contractual, property, and institutional disputes, disputes arising from betting contracts, payout controversies, and regulatory infractions in the gaming sector.
Criminal litigation – defending and prosecuting criminal matters, corporate fraud, regulatory breaches, and related criminal proceedings.
Tort-related claims – advising on and litigating negligence, defamation, trespass, nuisance, product liability, and other tortious claims.
Banking and financial services litigation – representing banks and financial institutions in recovery actions, regulatory disputes, insolvency, receivership & restructuring disputes, and other commercial claims.
Election petitions – handling matters before National and State Houses of Assembly Tribunals, Governorship Election Tribunals, and through appellate stages up to the Supreme Court.
Family law litigation – advancing and protecting sensitive rights and responsibilities within the family context. We also conduct verification searches for embassies and foreign missions, confirming the authenticity of court judgments, divorce decrees, adoption orders, and other family law documents.
Energy and infrastructure disputes – acting for clients in high-stakes matters arising from the power, oil and gas, concessions, procurement challenges, and broader energy sectors.
Land and real property disputes – advising on and litigating ownership claims, boundary disputes, compensation for compulsory acquisition, landlord–tenant disputes, and enforcement of real property rights for individuals, families, and corporate landholders.
Professional negligence and malpractice claims – pursuing and defending actions involving professional advisers, healthcare providers, and fiduciaries.
Interim reliefs & emergency applications – securing injunctions, preservation orders, Mareva/asset-freezing orders, and other interlocutory reliefs to safeguard clients’ interests.

The Arbitration and ADR Unit also boasts of successfully mediating several commercial disputes both in Nigeria, United Kingdom and other international jurisdictions and when deemed appropriate, advises its clients on the merits of ADR in the resolution of commercial disputes.
This unit is led by an internationally renowned chartered arbitrator and CEDR-Accredited mediator who serves as a member of the ICC Court of International Arbitration and the Permanent Court of Arbitration at the Hague.
Both Litigation and ADR units work with clients to formulate strategies to assist our clients achieve the best outcomes with respect to disputes in and out of court.
