Alternate Dispute Resolution

The principal partner of the Firm sits at the helm of our ADR practice. Mrs. Funmi Roberts is an established arbitrator and mediator. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), an Accredited Mediator with U.K.-based Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) and a member of the training faculties of both CIArb and CEDR in Nigeria.

The ADR practitioners of the firm has successfully conducted several mediation and arbitrations within and outside Nigeria. They have also been involved in the setting up of multidoor court houses in Nigerian states and was monumental in the reform/repeal and re-enactment of the arbitration governing law in Nigeria.

Litigation

Our litigation team is headed by a Counsel with over 32 years of active litigation practice. Our litigation unit adopts an integrated approach which cuts across all our practice areas in providing specialized services to our clients.  We are recognized as leaders in receiverships, assets recovery, real estate claims, corporate and commercial disputes, environmental law related disputes, industrial relations disputes, as well as disputes in the banking and finance industry.

One of our core areas of practice is debt recovery, and we provide innovative strategies for dealing with this, by providing comprehensive debt recovery solutions to our clients. The recovery method adopted by the Firm is a friendly approach leveraging on the ADR Unit to provide solutions that preserve the relationship between the contracting parties.

Litigation is usually our last resort and we regularly adopt practical but pragmatic approach to deliver clients’ expectations without being hindered by the usual impediment of our judicial system and legal technicalities that some legal practitioners are familiar with. Our reporting mechanism are swift and proactive. Updates to clients in respect of their cases are given with professionalism to enable them regularly keep track of what transpired in Court.
